The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dedicated and passionate Reception Class Teacher to join its team from September 2026. This is a maternity cover role until December 2027. In this role, you will plan, prepare, and deliver an engaging and well-structured curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and implement the agreed school curriculum to cater for the needs of all children within the assigned class and any other class taught.
  • Provide well planned, engaging learning experiences and support for all learners and to deliver a diverse, relevant and differentiated (where appropriate) curriculum for all children in the class.
  • Observe and evaluate the progress of each child through implementing the agreed structures within the school and according to EYFS.
  • Create a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere that is conducive to the social and emotional needs of the children within the class.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies at all times and to encourage positive practice in relation to general behaviour.
  • Create an engaging, stimulating and relevant learning environment through displays and classroom organisation.
  • Maintain cordial and informative relationships with parents.
  • Work as part of a team with the teachers and assistants within the assigned year group and the rest of the school staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification with a passion for education.

  • Have a strong, up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum for your year group.
  • Confidently use IT to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate excellent appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
