The Opportunity:

As a Resource Base Lead Teacher, you will play a key role in managing and delivering specialist SEN support to students with ASD and SEMH needs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in SEN education and a passion for making a real difference in students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver pastoral and specialist SEN support to students within the Resource Base.
  • Supervise students and manage behaviour within the Resource Base.
  • Deliver targeted programmes of work tailored to the needs of students with ASD and SEMH.
  • Liaise with families, external agencies, and internal support teams including Educational Psychologists, SALT, and OT.
  • Line manage Learning Mentors and provide ongoing support and guidance.
  • Ensure the effective use of facilities such as the Sensory Room and IT resources.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Support team to deliver a high-quality, inclusive curriculum.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research-led teaching strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with ASD and SEMH.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in line managing a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage behaviour and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, research-led support for students with complex needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering specialist SEN programmes and interventions.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and its use in supporting students with SEN.
  • Experience working in a resource base or similar provision.
  • Experience with curriculum development and delivery for students with complex needs.
