The Opportunity:
The Second in Charge Science will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Department in leading the Science team. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced Science professional looking to drive curriculum quality and student achievement across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Department in leading a high-performing Science team
- Ensure excellence in Science teaching at Key Stage 3 and beyond
- Drive curriculum development and promote high standards in Science education
- Contribute to the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning across the school
- Foster a culture of continuous professional development within the Science department
- Promote Catholic values and beliefs through teaching and school activities
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student outcomes and engagement in Science
- Support the implementation of school-wide priorities and initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong subject knowledge in Science
- Experience in leading and supporting Science teaching at Key Stage 3 and above
- Commitment to promoting Catholic values and beliefs
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to contribute to the development of Science curriculum and teaching standards
Preferred
- Specialism in Biology
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Background in Teaching English as a Second Language
- Experience in pastoral care and student support
- Demonstrated success in raising student achievement in Science
