The Opportunity:

The Second in Charge Science will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Department in leading the Science team. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced Science professional looking to drive curriculum quality and student achievement across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department in leading a high-performing Science team
  • Ensure excellence in Science teaching at Key Stage 3 and beyond
  • Drive curriculum development and promote high standards in Science education
  • Contribute to the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning across the school
  • Foster a culture of continuous professional development within the Science department
  • Promote Catholic values and beliefs through teaching and school activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student outcomes and engagement in Science
  • Support the implementation of school-wide priorities and initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in Science
  • Experience in leading and supporting Science teaching at Key Stage 3 and above
  • Commitment to promoting Catholic values and beliefs
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to contribute to the development of Science curriculum and teaching standards

Preferred

  • Specialism in Biology
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Background in Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support
  • Demonstrated success in raising student achievement in Science
