The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and attendance of students. This position focuses on maintaining high standards of pupil welfare, communication with families, and supporting the school's safeguarding processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and monitor pupil attendance to ensure a minimum of 96% attendance.
  • Create and implement systems for reviewing and communicating with parents to improve attendance.
  • Coordinate welfare meetings with Civitas tutors and arrange School Attendance panels.
  • Assist in the oversight of CPOMS and SENSO software for safeguarding and welfare.
  • Support the development of safety plans and risk assessments.
  • Manage the monitoring of uniform compliance and communication with parents.
  • Utilise and review CCTV systems to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports using Bromcom and other relevant systems.
  • Support the creation of outcome-focused intervention plans in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Attend meetings, home visits, and participate in training such as First Aider and Fire Warden.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in safeguarding, welfare, or student support roles.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student well-being and attendance improvement.
  • Proficiency in using school management systems such as Bromcom, CPOMS, and SENSO.
  • Ability to manage and monitor student attendance data effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience with trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience in educational settings, particularly in secondary schools.
  • Background in pastoral care or youth work.
  • Experience in creating and managing intervention plans.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
