The Opportunity:
As a Safeguarding Officer, you will provide essential support to vulnerable learners, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and academic engagement. This role is central to maintaining a secure and inclusive learning environment, with a focus on early intervention and effective support strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive, timely and effective safeguarding and wellbeing support to students with identified concerns.
- Manage a defined caseload and work closely with curriculum teams and external agencies to deliver early help, targeted and crisis intervention.
- Support transition, enrolment and induction for vulnerable learners, ensuring wrap-around support from the outset.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality safeguarding records suitable for audit and inspection scrutiny.
- Contribute to a strong, open safeguarding culture across the institution, including staff training and awareness activities.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum areas to reduce barriers to attendance, engagement and achievement.
- Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and regulatory expectations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in safeguarding and wellbeing support within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and Ofsted expectations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families and external agencies.
- Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
- Commitment to promoting the health, safety and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Preferred
- Experience working with vulnerable learners, including those in care or with complex safeguarding needs.
- Experience in early help and targeted interventions.
- Experience in staff training or awareness-raising activities related to safeguarding.
- Knowledge of education frameworks and support systems for vulnerable learners.
