The Opportunity:

The School Business Manager will provide strategic leadership across finance, operations, estates, and administration, ensuring the school’s resources support its educational ambitions. This is a key leadership role in shaping the school’s future and delivering its strategic development plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for financial planning and resource management
  • Lead the development and management of a £8–9 million budget
  • Support long-term strategic planning in partnership with the Headteacher and Governors
  • Provide leadership for premises, estates, and operational services
  • Identify and develop new revenue streams and funding opportunities
  • Ensure robust systems for financial governance, compliance, and risk management
  • Lead and develop a large and diverse support staff team
  • Ensure the school remains financially sustainable and organisationally agile

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant experience in strategic financial management
  • Strong leadership and organisational development skills
  • A proven ability to manage complex operational responsibilities
  • The confidence to operate as a strategic partner to the Headteacher
  • High levels of integrity, judgement, and professional credibility

Preferred

  • Experience within a school or educational setting
  • Experience with budget management and financial planning
  • Strong understanding of educational governance and compliance
