The Opportunity:

As a School Chaplain, you will play a vital role in shaping the spiritual and pastoral life of the school. Whether ordained or lay, you will lead worship and provide pastoral support to students and staff. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the academic life of the school through teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate school worship across all year groups.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the pastoral team to ensure a supportive school environment.
  • Deliver high-quality academic teaching if combined with the chaplaincy role.
  • Promote the values and ethos of the school through spiritual leadership.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and welfare of students.
  • Engage with the wider school community through events and pastoral initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external religious and pastoral organisations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in school chaplaincy or relevant pastoral experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and ethos.
  • Willingness to undergo child protection screening and safeguarding checks.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Ordination or training in theology or religious studies.
  • Experience in teaching or academic leadership.
  • Familiarity with the Church of England or other Christian traditions.
  • Experience in leading worship and delivering religious education.
