The Opportunity:
As a Science Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting science education by managing resources, preparing equipment, and providing technical assistance during lessons. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons and experiments, ensuring they are safe, functional, and ready for use.
- Provide technical support and assistance to teachers during lessons.
- Maintain the school's science lab and stock area, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and organisation.
- Keep accurate records of equipment and materials, managing their storage and disposal as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Science and other staff members.
- Promote the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all pupils in your care.
- Comply with all safeguarding, behaviour, and discipline policies.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and training programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Levels or equivalent
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent)
- Experience of working with children
Preferred
- Science qualification(s)
- Experience of teaching or supporting the teaching of science within the primary age range
- Ability to impart enthusiasm for science to young children
