The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing, working within a dedicated team that prioritises early intervention and holistic care. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver early intervention and evidence-based support to students experiencing mental health challenges.
• Liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive care and support.
• Support the development of a Whole School Approach to mental health and wellbeing.
• Conduct risk assessments and manage cases in line with safeguarding protocols.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with school and health service guidelines.
• Provide self-help resources and support for evidence-based psychological treatments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement intervention plans.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and supervision to enhance practice and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Relevant Level 4 Counselling qualification or similar.
• Registration with a professional body (e.g., BACP).
• Experience working with children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
• Safeguarding training.

Preferred

• Experience of counselling in an educational environment.
• Experience of working with external support agencies.
• Advanced counselling qualification.
• Degree-level qualification.
