The Opportunity:
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Science department by ensuring practical lessons are well-prepared, safe, and effective. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for Science and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organise, and set out equipment, materials, and resources for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Provide specialist support for A Level Physics practicals, ensuring experiments are resourced, prepared, and delivered effectively.
- Maintain, clean, and store apparatus safely, carrying out minor repairs where necessary.
- Ensure laboratories and preparation areas meet all health and safety requirements, following COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines.
- Support teachers during practical lessons when required, helping pupils to use equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, order resources, and maintain accurate records of materials and equipment.
- Dispose of waste materials and chemicals safely in accordance with regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of science events, demonstrations, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a science laboratory or technical support role.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Background in Physics, with experience supporting A Level practicals.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and chemical storage procedures.
- Previous experience in education or a related field.
