The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Science department by ensuring practical lessons are well-prepared, safe, and effective. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for Science and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organise, and set out equipment, materials, and resources for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Provide specialist support for A Level Physics practicals, ensuring experiments are resourced, prepared, and delivered effectively.
  • Maintain, clean, and store apparatus safely, carrying out minor repairs where necessary.
  • Ensure laboratories and preparation areas meet all health and safety requirements, following COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines.
  • Support teachers during practical lessons when required, helping pupils to use equipment safely and effectively.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, order resources, and maintain accurate records of materials and equipment.
  • Dispose of waste materials and chemicals safely in accordance with regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of science events, demonstrations, and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a science laboratory or technical support role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Background in Physics, with experience supporting A Level practicals.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and chemical storage procedures.
  • Previous experience in education or a related field.
