The Opportunity:
As the Head of Physics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the science department and inspiring students to achieve academic success. This is a leadership position that demands vision, expertise, and a passion for physics education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Physics department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in Physics at Key Stage 4 and 5.
- Support and mentor physics teachers to foster a collaborative and effective department.
- Oversee the curriculum and assessment processes to ensure alignment with school and Trust standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
- Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic direction of the school.
- Ensure the department maintains a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Engage with parents and the wider community to promote the value of physics education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5 Physics
- Good Honors Degree in a relevant subject
- Proven ability to raise student attainment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
- Leadership experience within a school or department
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in physics education
- Experience in pastoral care and student welfare
