The Opportunity:

As the Head of Physics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the science department and inspiring students to achieve academic success. This is a leadership position that demands vision, expertise, and a passion for physics education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Physics department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in Physics at Key Stage 4 and 5.
  • Support and mentor physics teachers to foster a collaborative and effective department.
  • Oversee the curriculum and assessment processes to ensure alignment with school and Trust standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic direction of the school.
  • Ensure the department maintains a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to promote the value of physics education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5 Physics
  • Good Honors Degree in a relevant subject
  • Proven ability to raise student attainment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

  • Leadership experience within a school or department
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in physics education
  • Experience in pastoral care and student welfare
