The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support teaching and learning in the Science department. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, efficient laboratory environment and ensuring students and staff have the resources they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare equipment and chemicals for lessons and provide technical demonstrations for staff and students.
  • Maintain, repair, and clean laboratory apparatus and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, including the appropriate storage of chemicals.
  • Manage a bank of resources and assist with record-keeping for the Science department.
  • Support students with research projects and provide technical advice when needed.
  • Collaborate with Science staff to enhance practical learning experiences.
  • Stay updated with developments in Science education and laboratory best practices.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for lessons and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a laboratory or technical support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a wide range of Science equipment and chemicals.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to supporting student learning and engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or academy trust.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
  • Knowledge of Science education and laboratory best practices.
  • Experience with resource management and inventory systems.
