The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people within a disadvantaged community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a year group to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior, attendance, and academic outcomes.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, ensuring their welfare and well-being are prioritized.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and effective approach to student development.
  • Deliver assemblies and speak to students and staff on key issues impacting the school community.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted support.
  • Promote the school’s leadership programme and values across the year group.
  • Support the school’s mission to inspire charitable and social action in students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 9-4/A*-C.
  • Proven experience of working with young people in an education setting.
  • Experience of providing pastoral support within an education setting.
  • Strong organisational and technical skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak in front of large groups of students and small groups of staff.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or management role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of leadership development and character-building programmes.
  • Experience of working in a school with a strong values-based mission.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
