Summary:

Science Technician needed to support a dynamic Science department at a school in East London.

The Opportunity:

A Science Technician is required to support the Science department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning. This role involves preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and assisting with practical lessons. The successful candidate will be a key member of a dedicated team committed to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain equipment, materials, and resources for practical lessons
  • Ensure all apparatus is in good working order and safely stored
  • Assist staff with demonstrations and classroom practical activities
  • Provide administrative support to support the smooth running of the department
  • Contribute to wider school responsibilities, including First Aid and student escorting
  • Support the delivery of Science curriculum across all key stages
  • Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure consistency and quality in teaching resources
  • Stay updated with developments in Science and incorporate new ideas into practice

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong knowledge of Science and laboratory practices
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to student and staff support
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Experience in a Science laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in schools
  • Experience with administrative tasks and record-keeping
  • Experience with First Aid or similar roles
  • Previous experience in a secondary school setting
