The Opportunity:

A Second in Maths is sought to lead and support the department in delivering a world-class Mathematics curriculum. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate educator who is committed to raising standards and inspiring both students and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Mathematics Mastery curriculum that promotes deep understanding and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Maths and department to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Lead and support professional development opportunities for staff across the school and department.
  • Source, develop, and share high-quality resources and strategies for Mathematics teaching.
  • Continuously update subject knowledge and pedagogical approaches to ensure best practice.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress to ensure sustained attainment and improvement.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Support the wider school community through shared leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree in a relevant subject.
  • PGCE or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified to Work in Secondary Schools (QTLS).

Preferred

  • Recent inset in subject-related issues.
  • A relevant professionally recognised leadership qualification (e.g. NCSL LFTM, Leadership Pathways, NPQ) or willingness to undertake one.
