The Opportunity:

The Head of Design and Technology will lead the Food Technology and Resistant Materials department, driving student achievement and aligning with the school’s vision for sustainability and excellence in education. This role is ideal for an experienced educator passionate about inspiring students through impactful teaching and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Food Technology and Resistant Materials department across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
• Develop and review the Design and Technology curriculum in line with the National Curriculum and school standards.
• Deliver high-quality teaching that challenges students and supports them in achieving outstanding results.
• Promote the school’s vision, mission, and values through teaching and leadership practices.
• Ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that celebrates student success.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Head of Curriculum on departmental strategies and initiatives.
• Uphold and implement school policies, safeguarding frameworks, and operational procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Native-level English language skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology or a related field, with a PGCE in Education and QTS or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Design and Technology in the UK or a reputable British school overseas.
• Proven track record of achieving outstanding GCSE and A Level examination results.
• Demonstrated ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment.

Preferred

• Experience teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level/BTEC.
• Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of project-based and experiential learning approaches.
• Familiarity with ecological and sustainability-focused education.
