The Opportunity:

As a Secondary Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education and support to students with autism. You will help shape learning experiences that are engaging, challenging, and tailored to individual needs, ensuring a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective learning experiences aligned with the school’s curriculum and individual learner needs.
  • Support students in developing personal, social, and life skills to help them succeed in everyday situations.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Manage the classroom environment, including supervision of break times and lunchtimes.
  • Ensure compliance with autism accreditation standards and safeguarding policies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and supports the well-being of all students.
  • Adhere to and support the implementation of school policies, including those related to health and safety, data protection, and child safeguarding.
  • Provide regular feedback and support to students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A relevant undergraduate degree
  • Previous experience or training in special education
  • Proven knowledge of SEN and assessment across P levels and National Curriculum levels
  • Experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities in an educational setting
  • Full driving license

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching within a specialist autism setting
  • Experience with curriculum development and differentiation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in supporting students with complex needs
