The Opportunity:

As a SEN Science Teacher, you will support secondary-aged students who often start below age-related expectations. This role requires strong relationship-building, adaptive teaching, and a passion for helping students achieve academic success in science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver science lessons tailored to students with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles and abilities
  • Support students in making progress towards GCSE or alternative pathways
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide a consistent and nurturing learning environment
  • Use creative and engaging approaches to foster student motivation and success
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive and effective teaching strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and behavior

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching students with SEN and/or SEMH needs
  • Ability to teach science up to GCSE level
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and adaptive teaching methods

Preferred

  • Experience in alternative provision or special needs education
  • Ability to teach additional subjects such as IT at KS3
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and SEN pedagogy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
