The Opportunity:
As a SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them achieve their full potential through tailored learning plans and collaborative efforts with school staff and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized teaching plans that meet the unique learning needs of students with special educational needs.
- Collaborate with school counselors, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to support students’ academic and social development.
- Modify curriculum content and deliver lessons in English and math that are accessible to students with a range of learning challenges.
- Conduct initial assessments to identify individual learning needs and create effective Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
- Provide in-class and one-on-one support to students with disabilities, including those on the autistic spectrum, with specific learning difficulties, and behavioral challenges.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and contribute to regular reporting and progress reviews.
- Work closely with class teachers and support staff to identify student needs and set achievable learning targets.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral difficulties and help develop their social and communication skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area and a recognized teaching qualification or license.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with students with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- A special education certification or experience working toward such a qualification.
- Experience with assistive technology and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of American or international curricula and teaching methodologies.
- Experience in developing and delivering individualized learning programs.
