A school is dedicated to providing inclusive education for students aged 7-19 with a wide range of additional needs, including speech and language difficulties and sensory regulation challenges.

The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering individualised and engaging lessons tailored to students with complex needs. You will lead a class team and collaborate with professionals to ensure a consistent, person-centred approach to teaching and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualised lessons that consider cognitive, communication, and sensory profiles.
  • Lead and manage a class team to ensure a consistent and person-centred approach across the day.
  • Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to embed therapeutic strategies into daily teaching.
  • Use augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) including high-tech and low-tech solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with families and support home-school communication.
  • Contribute to annual reviews and Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, ideally in a special school setting.
  • Extensive experience with AAC systems – both high-tech and low-tech.
  • Experience teaching students with complex and severe learning needs and managing behaviours using PBS principles.
  • Skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and embedding therapeutic strategies into teaching.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.

Preferred

  • Confidence in working with parents/carers and supporting EHCP processes.
