Join a school as a SEN Teaching Assistant on a 12-month fixed term contract.

A school dedicated to supporting boys aged 5 to 12 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, as well as autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. It fosters a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and resilience.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is essential in supporting students with their learning and wellbeing, helping them reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment. The position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Establish warm, caring relationships with students to promote independence and personal development.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual needs.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and contribute to record-keeping and teamwork.
  • Transport students to and from school when required, including offsite learning experiences.
  • Provide support during educational trips, forest school, sports, and swimming activities.
  • Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as needed within the school setting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
  • GCSE Maths and English level 2/C or above
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Safeguarding training
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and following EHCPs or One Page Profiles
  • Strong classroom behaviour strategies and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, patient, and flexible

Preferred

  • Level 2 or above qualification in support work for teaching and learning
  • Experience with interventions such as sensory diets, Makaton/PECS, or Thrive
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or mental health awareness
