The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is essential in supporting students with their learning and wellbeing, helping them reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment. The position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils in their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
- Establish warm, caring relationships with students to promote independence and personal development.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual needs.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and contribute to record-keeping and teamwork.
- Transport students to and from school when required, including offsite learning experiences.
- Provide support during educational trips, forest school, sports, and swimming activities.
- Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as needed within the school setting.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
- GCSE Maths and English level 2/C or above
- Full UK driving licence
- Safeguarding training
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and following EHCPs or One Page Profiles
- Strong classroom behaviour strategies and teamwork skills
- Reliable, patient, and flexible
Preferred
- Level 2 or above qualification in support work for teaching and learning
- Experience with interventions such as sensory diets, Makaton/PECS, or Thrive
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or mental health awareness
