The Opportunity:
As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support required to achieve their full potential. This role is crucial in delivering an inclusive curriculum and fostering resilience and self-discipline in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the school’s provision for students with special educational needs and those requiring intervention.
- Develop and implement strategies to support inclusive curriculum delivery aligned with national codes of practice.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure they meet their academic and personal development targets.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, teaching assistants, and other professionals to provide tailored support for students.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff to ensure a shared understanding of the school’s vision for SEND education.
- Review and develop intervention strategies to support best practice in the classroom.
- Inspire and lead a team of specialist staff to make a positive impact on students’ lives.
- Promote a culture of high achievement and inclusion across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- SENDCo qualification or equivalent experience.
- Proven leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
- Strong classroom-based practice and a commitment to raising student achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and implementing intervention strategies for students with special educational needs.
- Experience with inclusive curriculum design and delivery.
- Experience in working with parents and carers to support student progress.
- Experience in promoting a culture of resilience and self-discipline in students.
