The Opportunity:
As SENCO / Class Teacher, you will lead and develop a small enhanced provision that supports pupils with additional needs. This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic SEND leadership with outstanding classroom practice, ensuring pupils are supported academically, emotionally, and socially to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a small enhanced provision rooted in early intervention and inclusive practice.
- Support pupils with additional needs to flourish both within the provision and across the wider school community.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive learning environment.
- Implement adaptive teaching strategies that reflect the school’s ethos of relationship-rich education.
- Ensure high standards of pupil wellbeing and safeguarding across all aspects of the role.
- Develop and manage pathways that support pupils’ growing confidence, independence, and transition into mainstream learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote inclusive practices and share best practice across the school.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching and support staff in delivering individualised learning plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to undertake)
- Significant experience working with pupils with SEND
- Excellent understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive practice
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- High levels of emotional intelligence, warmth and professionalism
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Commitment to the school’s ethos and values
Preferred
- Experience establishing or leading a specialist or enhanced provision
- Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and social/emotional needs
- Experience within the independent or prep school sector
- Understanding of therapeutic and relational approaches
- Experience line managing support staff
- Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice
