The Opportunity:
As the Head of Foreign Languages, you will lead the development and delivery of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum, with French as the core language. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the vision for language learning and inspire a new generation of confident, curious, and engaged language learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive excellence in teaching and learning across Modern Foreign Languages
- Promote high standards of linguistic accuracy, communication, and cultural understanding
- Foster confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in language learning
- Develop pupils’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills across the curriculum
- Use assessment effectively to support progress and secure strong outcomes
- Support pupils to become reflective, independent, and resilient learners
- Line manage and develop members of the department
- Contribute to whole-school academic and cultural development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A genuine passion for Modern Foreign Languages
- Excellent classroom practice with high expectations
- Ability to lead, inspire, and develop colleagues
- Understanding of how to balance academic rigour with enthusiasm and enjoyment in language learning
- Commitment to inclusion, ambition, and excellent outcomes for all pupils
Preferred
- Strong experience teaching French
- Ability to teach Spanish as an enrichment option
- Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy
- Experience in departmental leadership
