The Opportunity:

As the Head of Foreign Languages, you will lead the development and delivery of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum, with French as the core language. Key Responsibilities:

• Drive excellence in teaching and learning across Modern Foreign Languages
• Promote high standards of linguistic accuracy, communication, and cultural understanding
• Foster confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in language learning
• Develop pupils’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills across the curriculum
• Use assessment effectively to support progress and secure strong outcomes
• Support pupils to become reflective, independent, and resilient learners
• Line manage and develop members of the department
• Contribute to whole-school academic and cultural development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A genuine passion for Modern Foreign Languages
• Excellent classroom practice with high expectations
• Ability to lead, inspire, and develop colleagues
• Understanding of how to balance academic rigour with enthusiasm and enjoyment in language learning
• Commitment to inclusion, ambition, and excellent outcomes for all pupils

Preferred

• Strong experience teaching French
• Ability to teach Spanish as an enrichment option
• Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy
• Experience in departmental leadership
