The Opportunity:

As a SENCo, you will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping high-quality SEND provision across the school. This is a key leadership position that requires both teaching excellence and strategic oversight of support services for students with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision in line with statutory requirements.
  • Identify and support students with SEND, maintaining accurate records.
  • Work with teachers to ensure inclusive classroom practice for all learners.
  • Provide targeted intervention strategies and specialist guidance to staff.
  • Coordinate provision for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Build strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and professionals.
  • Support and lead SEND staff, including teaching assistants.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEND interventions on student progress.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with (or working towards) the National Award for SEN Coordination.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Ability to teach either Maths or English.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students with additional needs and promoting inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing SEND provision.
  • Experience with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Background in working with external agencies and parents.
  • Experience in curriculum development and teacher training.
