The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and maintenance of school facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair school buildings, fixtures, and fittings to a high standard.
- Carry out general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all areas of the school.
- Assist with the management of maintenance schedules and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Support the operations team in the completion of projects and ad-hoc tasks.
- Use IT systems to log and track maintenance requests and progress.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and report to the Operations Manager as required.
- Work flexible hours, including term-time shifts and school holiday periods.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong practical DIY and general maintenance skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Good level of IT proficiency.
- Reliable and enthusiastic with a team-focused approach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and school holidays.
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar maintenance role.
Preferred
- Experience working in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Previous experience with building maintenance systems or software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
