The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and maintenance of school facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair school buildings, fixtures, and fittings to a high standard.
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all areas of the school.
  • Assist with the management of maintenance schedules and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Support the operations team in the completion of projects and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Use IT systems to log and track maintenance requests and progress.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and report to the Operations Manager as required.
  • Work flexible hours, including term-time shifts and school holiday periods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong practical DIY and general maintenance skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Good level of IT proficiency.
  • Reliable and enthusiastic with a team-focused approach.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and school holidays.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar maintenance role.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Previous experience with building maintenance systems or software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
