The Opportunity:

As SENCO, you will lead and develop high-quality inclusive practice across the school, ensuring that all pupils—particularly those with additional needs—are fully supported to achieve their potential. This is a strategic role with responsibility for SEND, offering a chance to shape inclusive provision and drive whole-school improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-quality inclusive practice across the school.
  • Provide strategic direction for SEND provision, working closely with senior leadership.
  • Deliver professional development for staff involved in SEND support.
  • Ensure that all pupils, especially those with additional needs, are supported to achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with subject and pastoral leaders to embed quality-first teaching for SEND learners.
  • Work with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher – Inclusion to shape inclusive provision.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND strategies and interventions.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and support across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role with responsibility for SEND.
  • Strong knowledge of inclusive practice and SEND provision in a school setting.
  • Experience in leading and developing staff training and professional development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and across the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or similar educational setting.
  • Experience in curriculum development with a focus on SEND.
  • Experience with whole-school improvement and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of current SEND policy and best practice.
