The Opportunity:
As the SENCO, you will champion inclusion and high expectations for students with special educational needs across the school. You will work closely with the Director of SEN to ensure statutory requirements are met, and you will play a key role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive ethos and collaborate between the school, child, and home to support learning and social development
- Work closely with the Director of SEN to ensure that all statutory requirements are fully and efficiently met
- Ensure that students with SEN are fully included in the life of the school, including extra-curricular activities
- Implement and realise the School Plan with the highest possible expectations in all aspects of school life
- Build, manage, and communicate effectively with your team to support student progress and performance
- Develop and apply strategies that meet the needs of learners with Special Educational Needs
- Uphold high standards in behaviour for learning and overall student achievement
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Good or outstanding teacher with at least 3 years of teaching experience
- Ability to build, manage, and communicate effectively with a team
- Understanding of strategies that meet the needs of learners with Special Educational Needs
- National Award for SENCOs or willingness to complete it
Preferred
- Experience in developing and implementing SEN policies
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices
- Experience working with alternative provision settings
