The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced SENCo to join our leadership team and lead the provision of special education needs support. This role is vital in ensuring that all students receive tailored support that meets their individual needs and helps them achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model a neuro-informed and neuro-affirmative approach to staff and students.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with each student’s EHCP and SEND assessment.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s special education policy.
- Coordinate and deploy provision based on EHCPs and SEND assessments.
- Communicate with parents, staff, and agencies on student progress and support strategies.
- Ensure an integrated approach to SEND provision across the school.
- Advise the Headteacher on strategic development and review of SEND policies.
- Liaise with the Pastoral lead to identify therapeutic support needs.
- Prepare and conduct annual statutory reviews and case conferences.
- Promote best practice through inset and CPD sessions for staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
- SENDCo qualification or relevant experience in the role.
- Experience working with students with SEND, particularly those with ASC and associated conditions.
- Experience in implementing a range of interventions.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
- Experience managing a range of approaches to behaviour.
Preferred
- Knowledge of current research and developments in SEND.
- Experience in leading or supporting strategic policy development.
- Experience in working within a residential or therapeutic educational setting.
