The Opportunity:

As a SENCo Inclusion Lead, you will play a vital role in leading special educational needs provision, promoting inclusion, safeguarding, and mental health support across the school. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a period of growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage special educational needs provision across all year groups.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring policies and procedures are followed effectively.
  • Lead and support mental health initiatives, working closely with staff, pupils, and external agencies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop individual education plans and interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion strategies and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments, and intervention plans for all students with additional needs.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and support across the school community.
  • Support the development of staff through training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in SEND coordination or related roles within education.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practices.
  • Experience in safeguarding procedures with the ability to act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting children and experience in leading mental health initiatives.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education strategies and curriculum design.
  • Experience in working with children with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with multi-agency working and collaboration with external professionals.
