The Opportunity:
As a Specialist SEND ASD Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of children with ASD at Key Stage 1.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement strategies that support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods to ensure individual learning goals are met.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages respect, empathy, and understanding.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and colleagues.
- Participate in school-wide training and professional development opportunities focused on SEND education.
- Support the wider school community by contributing to team initiatives and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or qualification in Primary Education or Childhood Education.
- Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and strategies for supporting pupils with SEND.
- Ability to plan and deliver lessons appropriate for young learners at Key Stage 1.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with children with diverse learning needs.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or supporting children with additional needs.
- Previous experience in a primary education setting.
- Familiarity with SEND frameworks and best practices.
- Experience with collaborative working in multidisciplinary teams.
