The Opportunity:

As a Specialist SEND ASD Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of children with ASD at Key Stage 1.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement strategies that support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods to ensure individual learning goals are met.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages respect, empathy, and understanding.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and colleagues.
  • Participate in school-wide training and professional development opportunities focused on SEND education.
  • Support the wider school community by contributing to team initiatives and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree or qualification in Primary Education or Childhood Education.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and strategies for supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons appropriate for young learners at Key Stage 1.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with children with diverse learning needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or supporting children with additional needs.
  • Previous experience in a primary education setting.
  • Familiarity with SEND frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with collaborative working in multidisciplinary teams.
