The Opportunity:

As the SENCo, you will play a pivotal role in leading the provision for students with special educational needs across our school. This is a key leadership position within our Extended Senior Leadership Team, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of SEND support and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs across the school.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance, engagement, and academic outcomes.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure that all students receive appropriate support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current SEND provision and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide professional development and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures related to SEND are followed consistently and effectively.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the school to support the needs of all students.
  • Liaise with senior leadership to ensure that SEND is a strategic priority across the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in supporting students with special educational needs in a mainstream or specialist setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes and drive positive change.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to high expectations for all students, including those with additional needs.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a large and complex team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role, particularly within SEN provision.
  • Familiarity with research-based pedagogy and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Experience with developing and implementing school-wide policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in special educational needs and disability support.
