The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Teacher (ASD) to be part of the founding team of a new specialist unit for up to 20 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role will focus on delivering a personalised curriculum rooted in the SCERTS framework, with a strong emphasis on social communication, emotional regulation and transactional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a highly personalised curriculum that supports communication, learning, independence and emotional wellbeing
  • Work closely with the AHT for Inclusion, specialist support staff and external professionals
  • Establish strong routines, inclusive practice and a nurturing learning environment
  • Lead on planning, delivering and evaluating curriculum that prioritises social communication and functional skills
  • Support pupils with ASD and complex SEND through adaptive teaching and EHCP-led provision
  • Collaborate with families, colleagues and external agencies to secure positive outcomes
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the SEND unit
  • Promote and model best practice in inclusive education and co-regulation

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified primary teacher with relevant experience
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or complex SEND
  • Strong understanding of adaptive teaching, personalised learning and EHCP-led provision
  • Ability to plan learning that prioritises social communication, emotional regulation and functional skills
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and high standards of teaching and learning

Preferred

  • Experience with the SCERTS framework
  • Confidence in leading learning with the support of HLTAs and support staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reflective, resilient and committed to continuous improvement
  • Ambitious for pupils with SEND and committed to securing positive outcomes
