The Opportunity:
As a SENDCo, you will lead a team dedicated to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring inclusive practices are embedded across the school, with a focus on personal development, academic success, and a culture of belonging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the SEND department, ensuring high-quality provision for all learners.
- Develop and implement targeted interventions and curriculum pathways tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with class teachers, specialists, and support staff to embed inclusive practices throughout the school.
- Deliver professional learning and support staff in research-informed strategies for inclusive education.
- Engage in action research to drive sustainable, skills-based development across the school.
- Maintain strong communication with parents and carers to support student progress.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.
- Lead by example in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Native-level English language skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education / Inclusion or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with SEN or inclusion-focused roles in the UK or a reputable British school
- Strong understanding of research-informed inclusive practice
- Ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment
Preferred
- Additional qualifications, including the National Award for SEN Coordination
- Experience with students with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities
- Experience in leading a team of inclusion teachers and support staff
