The Opportunity:

As a Senior School Librarian, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, promoting reading for pleasure, and developing information literacy among students aged 11–18. This is a dynamic and impactful position that contributes directly to the educational experience of the school’s pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Senior School Library, ensuring it is a vibrant and well-resourced learning environment
  • Deliver library and research skills teaching across the Senior School
  • Support independent study and academic research for students
  • Promote a culture of reading for pleasure and lifelong learning
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to align library resources with curriculum needs
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of library systems and resources
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and data protection policies
  • Contribute to the wider school community through involvement in co-curricular and extracurricular activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working in a library within an educational setting
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Experience in delivering information literacy instruction
  • Ability to manage and develop library resources effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Preferred

  • Experience of line management
  • Familiarity with library systems and software
  • Experience in a school with a strong co-curricular programme
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and digital resources

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary between £39,000–£41,000 per annum
