The Opportunity:

As a Senior SEND Support Assistant, you will lead targeted support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the assistance they need to succeed. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement inclusive practices and deliver effective interventions tailored to individual student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee targeted support for students with special educational needs across various categories, including Autism Spectrum Condition, Cognition and Learning, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate interventions in collaboration with teaching staff and the SENDCo.
  • Provide both in-class and one-to-one support to ensure students receive the best possible outcomes.
  • Work with the EAA specialist assessor to coordinate assessments and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Support staff in identifying and planning provisions to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of specialist support plans.
  • Promote inclusive practices across the school and assist in training and guidance for other staff members.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing interventions for students with a range of needs.
  • Knowledge of educational assessment and support frameworks.
  • Experience with EAA assessments and their coordination.
  • Background in pastoral care or student support roles.
