The Opportunity:

As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning and physical needs across multiple campuses. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of learners who require high levels of individualised support and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex learning, physical, and emotional needs in a specialist environment.
  • Work closely with students, parents, carers, and other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to learning.
  • Provide individual attention, reassurance, and assistance with learning tasks tailored to students' needs.
  • Physically support learners, including those who use wheelchairs or require hoisting and positioning.
  • Assist students with independence and self-care procedures, ensuring dignity and respect in all interactions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs in a classroom or support environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow school policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with manual handling techniques and physical support for learners with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of self-regulation strategies and neurodiversity-inclusive practices.
  • Experience with Education Health and Care Plans and multi-disciplinary team collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on NJC, Grade 5-6, Point 12-20.
  • Permanent contract with 36 hours per week across 5 days, term time plus one week.
