The Opportunity:
As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning and physical needs across multiple campuses. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of learners who require high levels of individualised support and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with complex learning, physical, and emotional needs in a specialist environment.
- Work closely with students, parents, carers, and other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to learning.
- Provide individual attention, reassurance, and assistance with learning tasks tailored to students' needs.
- Physically support learners, including those who use wheelchairs or require hoisting and positioning.
- Assist students with independence and self-care procedures, ensuring dignity and respect in all interactions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs in a classroom or support environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow school policies and procedures.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience with manual handling techniques and physical support for learners with complex needs.
- Knowledge of self-regulation strategies and neurodiversity-inclusive practices.
- Experience with Education Health and Care Plans and multi-disciplinary team collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on NJC, Grade 5-6, Point 12-20.
- Permanent contract with 36 hours per week across 5 days, term time plus one week.
