The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning needs, autism, and disabilities across multiple campuses. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to ensure a safe, nurturing, and effective learning environment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex learning needs, autism, and disabilities in a classroom environment.
  • Establish positive, trusting relationships with students and provide individualised attention and assistance.
  • Assist with physical support, including helping students move around school, using wheelchairs, and hoisting as required.
  • Support students in developing independence and self-care skills with dignity and respect.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to meet student needs.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and emotionally regulated environment for all students.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to the school’s commitment to student welfare.
  • Provide assistance with learning tasks and adapt to the unique needs of each student.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience supporting students in a classroom environment, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to provide physical support and assistance, including manual handling where required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with autistic learners or students with complex learning needs.
  • Knowledge of self-regulation strategies and inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with personal care support and maintaining student dignity.
  • Previous experience in a special needs or SEND setting.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on NJC Pay Scale, Grade 4-5.
  • Part-time contract with 30.75 hours per week.
