Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the history department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver an ambitious Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum that engages and challenges students.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and professional development within the department.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance their practice and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in learning and achievement.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the school to support the overall mission and values.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the wider community to promote the importance of history education.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives aligned with the school’s vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong passion for history and a desire to inspire young people.
  • Relevant academic or teaching qualifications, such as a degree in History or Education.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with experience in managing departmental responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons, particularly at Key Stage 4.
  • Commitment to the school’s values, including respect, inclusivity, and integrity.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within education.
  • A track record of driving improvement in student outcomes.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with Catholic ethos and values in education.
