Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the history department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Deliver an ambitious Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum that engages and challenges students.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and professional development within the department.
- Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance their practice and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in learning and achievement.
- Work closely with colleagues across the school to support the overall mission and values.
- Engage with students, parents, and the wider community to promote the importance of history education.
- Contribute to the development of school policies and initiatives aligned with the school’s vision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A strong passion for history and a desire to inspire young people.
- Relevant academic or teaching qualifications, such as a degree in History or Education.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with experience in managing departmental responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons, particularly at Key Stage 4.
- Commitment to the school’s values, including respect, inclusivity, and integrity.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership role within education.
- A track record of driving improvement in student outcomes.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with Catholic ethos and values in education.
