Summary:

Sixth Form Matron needed to manage and support the Sixth Form Day House.

The Opportunity:

As the Sixth Form Matron, you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing and development of students aged 16 to 18. You will help maintain a positive and safe atmosphere within the Sixth Form Day House, working closely with the Head of Sixth Form and other colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Sixth Form Day House, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, promoting their academic and personal development.
  • Liaise with the Head of Sixth Form and other staff to coordinate activities and maintain high standards of student welfare.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and other legislative requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support the smooth running of the House.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and IT systems to support the efficient management of the House.
  • Participate in House activities and events, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing, with experience in pastoral care or student support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IT literacy and the ability to use standard office software.
  • Experience working with teenagers and a willingness to engage in House activities.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a matron or pastoral support position.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly with sixth form students.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in student welfare.

  • Competitive salary range of £22,306 - £23,692 per annum (pro rata for part-time roles).
