The Opportunity:

As a Social Skills Mentor, you will design and deliver tailored social skills interventions to students with EHCPs, SEMH, and ACEs. This role is pivotal in helping students build confidence and independence through targeted support and engaging activities, including Forest School initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver bespoke social skills programmes tailored to individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to ensure consistent and effective support for students.
  • Review and align interventions with EHCP targets to ensure progress is tracked and met.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and teaching staff to support student development.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences through Forest School activities and other practical settings.
  • Monitor and assess student progress through regular assessments and feedback.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with EHCPs, SEMH, and ACEs.
  • Ability to develop and deliver dynamic, student-focused social skills programmes.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • Willingness to obtain or hold a Forest School qualification.

Preferred

  • Experience in special educational needs or pastoral care settings.
  • Background in teaching or learning support.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and Section F targets.
  • Experience with progress monitoring and student assessments.
