The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of needs, ensuring they receive the necessary interventions and care to thrive academically and personally. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on pastoral support, making a meaningful impact on student lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement targeted interventions for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Coordinate with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Manage statutory safeguarding duties in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school environment that supports the wellbeing of all students.
  • Liaise with external professionals to provide additional support and guidance.
  • Ensure the school’s SEND provision is continuously improved and aligned with best practices.
  • Support students with mental health, social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar SENDCo role within an educational setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory safeguarding requirements and SEND policy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the school's ethos of care, respect, and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience with mindfulness and emotional wellbeing support strategies.
  • Background in pastoral care or student welfare.
  • Experience working with students with complex needs and safeguarding concerns.
