The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and driven Special Educational Needs Coordinator to lead the development of our SEND provision and ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. This role is integral to removing barriers to learning and supporting students of all abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the school’s Special Educational Needs provision.
- Work collaboratively with the Learning Support department and other staff to remove barriers to learning.
- Support the creation and delivery of schemes of work tailored to the needs of students.
- Provide guidance and training to colleagues on inclusive practices and SEND strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support provided to students with special educational needs.
- Liaise with parents, external agencies, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for students.
- Organize and lead extra-curricular and educational visits that enhance student learning and engagement.
- Promote the school’s inclusive ethos and ensure all students are supported to reach their full potential.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
- Hold or be working towards the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective support strategies for students with diverse needs.
- Experience in working with young people and supporting their academic and personal development.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a Learning Support department or similar role.
- Knowledge of inclusive education and best practice in special educational needs provision.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with SSAT standards and evidence-based practice in education.
