The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will be at the heart of a supportive, innovative learning environment focused on helping students with autism reach their full potential. You’ll play a key role in developing academic and life skills, while working closely with a dedicated therapy team to create a truly collaborative and holistic approach to education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualised lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Support students in developing academic skills alongside essential life and independence abilities.
  • Collaborate with a therapy team to integrate therapeutic support into everyday learning experiences.
  • Guide students in preparing for further education, including pathways such as sixth form and nationally recognised qualifications.
  • Lead and mentor a team of teaching assistants to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Design and implement personalised learning programmes that challenge and support each student’s unique needs.
  • Foster confidence, resilience, and self-advocacy in students through a creative and holistic curriculum.
  • Work closely with families to support student progress and well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs, particularly with autism.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and individualised learning strategies.
  • Experience in developing life skills and preparing students for adulthood.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with therapy and support teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in guiding students towards nationally recognised qualifications.
  • Leadership experience in managing teaching assistants or support staff.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches and their application in education.
  • Experience in curriculum design and delivery for students with complex needs.
  • Familiarity with work experience programmes and preparation for adult life.
