The Opportunity:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students attend regularly and achieve their full potential. This position involves managing attendance, supporting students with pastoral needs, and working closely with families and external agencies to improve outcomes. The role is central to the school’s mission of providing a high-quality education and a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and manage student absences, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding attendance concerns and support them in addressing barriers to attendance.
- Maintain detailed records of interventions, meetings, and consultations within the school’s attendance system.
- Analyze attendance data and produce weekly reports to support improvements in attendance.
- Work with external agencies and Senior Leaders to conduct home visits and support families.
- Coordinate the induction of new students, including communication with previous schools and parents.
- Support the implementation of Pastoral Support Plans and monitor progress for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Assist with first aid and medical support as required.
- Provide administrative support for the Inclusion Centre and other pastoral initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Ability to manage and analyse data effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Teamworking and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral, student support, or welfare roles.
- Familiarity with attendance monitoring systems such as Arbor.
- Experience in multi-agency working.
- Knowledge of managing attendance or inclusion plans.
