The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in supporting students with complex communication needs within a multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes while working in a collaborative and innovative educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist speech and language assessments and interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to embed clinical excellence across the school.
- Support the development and implementation of communication plans based on student profiles.
- Participate in staff training and provide consultation to education staff as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice through research, special interest groups, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain detailed case management and intervention records in line with professional standards.
- Engage with families and carers to support student progress and outcomes.
- Stay up to date with current legislation and best practices in speech and language therapy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Relevant experience working with individuals with complex communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
- Experience communicating with families and carers.
- Good relationship building, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and familiar with RCSLT Communication Standards.
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Understanding of legislation relevant to clinical practice.
Preferred
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
- Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
- Full driving license and access to a car.
