The Opportunity:

As a School Bursar, you will be central to the efficient and effective running of a prestigious institution. This leadership role requires strategic vision, financial expertise, and the ability to manage complex processes with accuracy and calm. You will play a key role in ensuring the school operates smoothly and safely, supporting both pupils and staff in achieving their best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial and operational management, including budgeting, payroll, and compliance.
  • Manage non-academic functions such as estates, IT, catering, and health and safety.
  • Lead and support staff through performance management and development.
  • Coordinate admissions, marketing, and supplier management processes.
  • Ensure the school remains fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Support the Head and Senior Leadership Team in strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and manage health and safety protocols, including fire and lockdown procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to work proactively with limited supervision
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to balance costs and benefits
  • Competent in key applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrable success in leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • Customer service expertise and experience managing queries and complaints
  • Experience in property or facility management
