The Opportunity:
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering bespoke occupational therapy assessments and interventions to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to support pupils’ independence and development.
- Maintain an assigned caseload, with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Uphold the standards outlined in the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and enhanced service delivery.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, families, and carers.
- Apply knowledge of legislation, information governance, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registered and member of RCOT.
- Relevant experience in a previously held role working with pupils with learning disabilities, SEMH, or neurodivergent needs.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings, with some responsibility for service and team performance.
- Experience of communicating with families, carers, and working with autistic children and young people.
- Experience of working in an education setting.
- Strong communication, analytical, and judgmental skills.
- Understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication.
- Knowledge of physical needs, dexterity, coordination, and sensory skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of approaches relating to neurodivergence, learning disability, and trauma-informed practice.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and self-development.
Preferred
- 3+ years of experience practicing as an OT.
- Evidence of formal postgraduate study in Sensory Integration, developmental trauma, or sensory attachment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary up to £53,200 FTE, DOE.
- £3000 Welcome Bonus (payable in two instalments).
