The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering bespoke occupational therapy assessments and interventions to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent needs, or SEMH challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to support pupils’ independence and development.
  • Maintain an assigned caseload, with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Uphold the standards outlined in the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and enhanced service delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, families, and carers.
  • Apply knowledge of legislation, information governance, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and member of RCOT.
  • Relevant experience in a previously held role working with pupils with learning disabilities, SEMH, or neurodivergent needs.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings, with some responsibility for service and team performance.
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and working with autistic children and young people.
  • Experience of working in an education setting.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and judgmental skills.
  • Understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication.
  • Knowledge of physical needs, dexterity, coordination, and sensory skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of approaches relating to neurodivergence, learning disability, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and self-development.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience practicing as an OT.
  • Evidence of formal postgraduate study in Sensory Integration, developmental trauma, or sensory attachment.

  • Competitive salary up to £53,200 FTE, DOE.
