The Opportunity:
As a Sports Assistant, you will support the delivery of the PE and Games curriculum for Year 1 to Year 9 pupils. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sports and eager to contribute to the development of children through physical education and coaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of PE lessons, clubs, practices, and fixtures for pupils across multiple year groups.
- Support the Head of PE, Sports & Physical Wellbeing in managing the Sports and PE Department.
- Engage with pupils in a positive, encouraging, and motivational manner.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- Participate in the wider life of the school, including events and activities beyond the PE curriculum.
- Maintain good ICT skills and use them to support school operations.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Enthusiasm for sports and an encouraging approach to learning.
- Previous experience working with children, including volunteering.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- A positive, flexible, and supportive team member.
- Valid Paediatric First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain it through the school.
- Good ICT skills.
- Willingness to support and engage in the whole life of the school.
Preferred
- A valid sports or sports coaching qualification or working towards one.
- A relevant childcare-related qualification.
