Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the music curriculum to ensure it is engaging, challenging, and aligned with the school’s vision.
  • Foster collaboration among staff, students, and external partners to enhance music education and performance opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing targeted strategies to raise achievement.
  • Support and mentor music teachers, providing professional development and guidance to enhance teaching quality.
  • Organise and oversee music events, performances, and extracurricular activities to promote student engagement and talent development.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to ensure the school’s strategic goals are reflected in all music-related initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and excellence, ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate and succeed in music.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives that support student well-being, behaviour, and academic success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in music education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment practices in music.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and mission.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or subject area.
  • Background in performing arts or music performance.
  • Experience with inclusive education and supporting diverse student needs.
  • Familiarity with the Co-op Academies Trust and its values.
